It is amazing to have so many sunny days on the trot.
I went out this morning to get some rolls and some creme fraiche to go with the rhubarb that I intend cooking later on. I just went to the near by small supermarket and they didn't have any, so I got some Greek style yoghurt instead.
Afterwards I went to the car wash, a very good one not far from here. It is a jet wash (and not a do-it-yourself one). I am proud to say that my car has never had a brush on it. I never used to worry about that sort of thing until I heard the man at the garage who sold me the car saying that he got one back in after the 3 years contract hire, and the driver was so proud that he had the car washed every week.
However you could barely see what colour the car was supposed to be as the brushes had gradually scraped all the paint off.
I reckon a sponge and bucket must be almost as bad as the sponge will drag some of the dirt across the paintwork.

Cleaning
Yesterday, my wonderful cleaners came. In addition to their job they spotted that my kitchen clock had stopped, fitted a new battery and re-hung it on the wall.
On their way in, they also spotted that someone had knocked the wing mirror of my car in the car park and it had a black mark on it which they removed for me. Said car now received its wash. The jet wash place has a loyalty scheme; every time you have your car washed they stamp your card, then every 8th time you get a free wash, polish and wheel scrub.
When I handed over the loyalty card with my money, I noted that the issue date on it was September 2007.
Ummm.
I blame the weather of course.

Out for Coffee
This morning I went to visit the very good friends who left here recently following the difficulties I wrote about earlier; they moved into their new home about a month ago, and have had to carry out a lot of work. The house is a good size with 2 double bedrooms, bathroom and single bedroom which they are using as a study; downstairs is a large sitting room/dining room with kitchen off, and a toilet. There is a good sized garage at the side.
Since moving in the lady of the house (whom I shall call L.) has painted all the cupboards before unpacking into them as they were very dusty; now the unpacking has been done. The garden was overgrown and they filled 2 skips with garden refuse, so there is still a lot of work to do there. They plan all sorts of things for the future in making this the house of their dreams, but are taking a well-earned rest for the meantime.
We enjoyed our coffee and blether and I stood up to leave and come home, when Mr L. said where was I going? They were taking me out to lunch at a near by good hotel (which they describe as their local hostelry). As usual I ate too much.... I drove us there and they walked back leaving me to do some shopping, fill the car with petrol and claim my free car wash and wheel scrub.
