Showers!

No, not rain showers, but the joys of a cold shower this morning, once again.


On doing a search of my blog for "header tank" I find that the last time the tank was topped up was 3 January.

Only 3 months ago.

Le chef suggested it might be due to a loosely fitting lid and a warm room.

Ah.

Not only is the lid loose (dropped it into the tank trying to re-fit it and had to fish it out - luckily I had filled the tank right to the top, so I could grab it), but there was a central stopper to the lid which I cannot find.

May be lurking at the bottom of the tank, so completely lost.

Anyway, to the process:

Took all the stuff off the floor.

Then took all the luggage off the rack over the top of the tank.

Then propped the rack on a cube of paper handkies.

Then filled the tank - it took 10 litres.

Then put everything back where it came from.

Oh boys, that was an effort.

The good news is that a parcel arrived from Lands End. It contained two lovely cashmere sweaters which are now parcelled up for return as they are hand wash only and my hands cannot cope with hand washing garments.

Knew I should not have ordered them as they were rather expensive, but now I shall be £216 better off!

Later...

I managed to empty the hall cupboard in stages although I did find it a bit much.

Then I had a look at the tank, but couldn't get really near it.

So, I phoned The Best Sister in the World and asked for help.

She duly arrived shortly after and filled the header tank using (I lost count of how many) 500ml bottles of water.

After she had finished, she then put everything back in the cupboard - suitcases, bags, toilet rolls, kitchen rolls, coats, fleeces, raincoat and so on.

It is now really neat and tidy.

She is just magic.

Oh no!

What next?

Got up this morning to have a shower as usual and took a quick look in my tank cupboard (tank as in hot water, not as in armoured).

What did I see?

Nothing.

This is bad news as there should be two green lights shining away to indicate the tank is working.

And the job is quite heavy, what with having to move so much stuff out of the way...

I think I shall take it stage by stage.

They don't know it yet, but.....

.....Daughter and partner are coming over tomorrow to collect me and take me there for a meal and a sleepover. Now, they might have helped with the "joiner work", but kind daughter-in-law did that. However, this morning I had a shower that can only be described as tepid. This means that I need to top up the header tank. Now, it is no time since I last topped it up, so, either something is wrong, or I did not top it up enough.

Although I am feeling much better, I don't really feel up to doing the top up (especially as it means unloading all the luggage and so on from the shelf over the tank.

So, guess who is going to be asked to do it for me..........
