This morning TBSITW collected me to take me to the District General Hospital to see the consultant neurologist. It was a very good, productive consultation.
We then went on for her to do a little shopping at Homebase, but later frustrated at the animal feed place as it didn't open till ten.
Back to the ranch for a cup of tea then off to the surgery for a repeat blood test. The nursing sister did a good job of accessing a vein.
Home again where I was dropped off in time for lunch.
This afternoon the motability scooter man called and identified a scooter to fit my small space. He did all the paperwork and will return with one to try on Friday. He does all the contact work with Motability, so I just have to wait. Lead time about 10 days!
I phoned Bethany Trust and they are delighted to uplift my chest of drawers and computer desk. They too are coming on Friday......
After all this I had a cup of tea with the Scrabble players.

The Interregnum
On Monday, I was at the bridge club, when our chairman looked across and noticed I looked unwell. She got one of the gentlemen to drive me home. Very shortly afterwards, our House Manager took one look at me and said "you're getting an ambulance now. And so I was transferred to the District General Hospital.
I remember very little about the next 24 hours....
However, here am at home again large as life and twice as ugly.
I was told that, once again I was a bit dehydrated and must drink plenty. Interestingly, I always used to drink sparkling water, but gave that up some time ago as tap water was "perfectly good" Without realising it, I had come to dislike the taste of our local tap water, whereas that at elder son's is delicious and TBSITW has one of these American fridges so gets filtered chilled water, and ice "on tap" as it were. the lab always comes running when he hears the ice machine.
So today I am going out for lunch with a very good friend and tomorrow it is back to the Day Hospital.

Friday's (not) hospital visit
Today Best Brother came to visit. Usually I put out the china teacups, saucers and plates and so on as well as the crystal cream and sugar.
Well, today he got the (admittedly fine bone china) mug and the cream jug was the one with the green screw-on top; the sugar was in a small plastic stackable storage dish with a tight fitting lid.
At least TBSITW had got some biscuits (or biccies) in Marks and Spencer for the occasion. We updated each other on family news particularly with regard to his grandson's visit from across the pond this summer - he will be going on some outings with my daughter's younger son. I understand that some plotting has been going on behind my back.
Having fixed up about the lift from here to the physiotherapy class that I missed earlier this week, I received a letter this morning to say I am to attend the District General Hospital all day on a Tuesday and a Thursday. I shall get morning tea or coffee, lunch and afternoon tea. An ambulance will collect me between 8.30 and 10am and another ambulance will take me home in the afternoon.
I feel rather as though I have no control over my life, but recognise that this is nonsense.

Like Arnie, I'm Back!
Well, here comes TBSITW's big sis, though I am having to respond to her very good advice.
She gave so much support over the past few days - what can I say? Words are never enough. I am very lucky to have her.
Anyway, back to the ranch and finding that I appear to have become 'hit' of the week.
I shall be playing bridge on Monday and going to the exercise class on Tuesday but otherwise take things a bit easy.
Not for too long though!

Sisters, Sisters.....
.....never were there such devoted sisters.
Think of the Beverly Sisters (if you are old enough)
This morning started bright and early with a trip to the local District General Hospital with friend J, who had an outpatient appointment. Not long after that, Best Sister called bearing gifts (Timeo danaos et dona farentes?), in fact she brought a bottle of Noilly Prat, which is my favourite vermouth, which she bought in a big store in big City which is not so rapacious as the one beginning with a T or the one beginning with an A (neither of which stock it.)
We had a great blether, which extended over two cups of tea and a golden krispie cake together with a slice of chocolate cake from J.
Here, I found road works going on in our car park (of which we were not notified) and which are seemingly due to electricity cable laying. I thought this had been done over a year ago, but apparently that time the job was not done properly. Hope it is done properly this time as a number of new residents have come with cars, so that the pressure on the car park is increasing. The car park is too small to have designated parking places, sadly.
NOTHING!
(That is what my sister says as saying "nothing" loudly)
After the best sister in the world left, J came down to tell me how she got on at OPD. She was there for an hour and a half, and it has now been agreed that she is to join a group for treatment, though there will be a waiting list , probably of 10 weeks or so.
It is a long time, but still at least a positive response.
