This afternoon was back at the bridge club and to find that, partnering the leader, we came third. This afternoon we had two teams and our team lost, although not by much. A good time was had by all.
Back to the ranch and managed to park with something of an effort as I reverse in better round another car, but in this case I wanted to be three bays along from a car as this should keep me away from the risk of cars parking across my boughs.
Into the lounge to find that a cup of tea was awaiting me, and also a fairy cake made by one of the Scrabble players.
One of our ladies came over with the scarf I had ordered, having seen it almost completed; it is a wonderful mix of colours pink, purpleand turquoise mostly so that it will go with many of my jumpers. I have also ordered a pink mix and a black mix. Find something good and buy the lot...
I arranged that, if the ground is in the least slippery, one of my friends will pick me up and wald me to the Church.
Home again to peel the potatoes and carrots and purple cabbage to go with my stew

Bridge and Cooking
Today I went to the Bridge Club again, and thoroughly enjoyed the bidding and play, with a new partner, my usual one being on holiday.
When I came back I had a cup of tea and a slice of Swiss roll. I then went on to make a new chicken recipe.
I have a very good tin opener which involves placing the head against the edge of the tin, then squeezing he arms together, and then rotating the head to open the can. Unfortunately, on this occasion, I caught a bit of my palm between the two handles, causing rather a nice blood blister.
I am now trying out my arnica sample.
The meal was scrummy after all that!

Today
Today I still felt rather wobbly but decided that it would be much better for me to get up and out to the Bridge Club (literally door to door, so no walking) I enjoyed playing and the company, but found it difficult to concentrate some of the time. My partner and I came 5th out of ten last week, so this is rather creditable.
Came back to the ranch in time for a cup of tea with the Scrabble ladies and gentleman. Said gentleman is coming tomorrow to collect my old Christmas tree and take it to a Charity shop, an excellent way to dispose of it.

Bridge once more
Yesterday was bridge! I am having difficulty in coming to terms with a partner with whom I am unfamiliar, and whose style of playing is different from mine, particularly because she is accustomed to playing rubber bridge rather than contract bridge. In the latter, instead of just trying to make a rubber, you are trying to maximise your points (because you are playing against all the other North/South players, (if you are playing North/South).
I was beginning to get a bit cross (inside only, of course); however in the last board of the afternoon I made a complete and utter horlicks of playing the hand, with nobody to blame apart from myself. It should have been an easy game to play, but a momentary lapse of concentration was my undoing……Serves me right!
My name and phone number are up on the board in case anyone is looking for a partner for tonight.
When I got back to the ranch yesterday, I was just in time for a very welcome cup of tea. One of the ladies has loaned me a book which promises to be very interesting. As we were going our separate ways, two of them came back in my direction and my suggestion of a GandT was greeted with glad cries of joy.
