When I first moved here, I did not fancy the idea of a Residents Lounge at all as it felt like it should be for very old people and I AM NOT OLD!! There were a number of activities pointed out to me, such as Scrabble on a Monday, Coffee Morning on a Wednesday, Keep Fit on a Thursday and a cup of tea while waiting for the fish van on a Friday. I wanted nothing to do with any of it. I AM NOT OLD, DO YOU HEAR?
(We are a wide range of ages, from early 60s to 90s. It is not sheltered accommodation or a nursing home, everyone is supposed to be independent on moving in, although some take ill subsequently and are supported by home carers and district nurses, and some have to move on to places where more care can be given. Here people own their own flats.)
However, living here has made me realise the importance of keeping those little grey cells active, and not only do I play scrabble but also I do cryptic crosswords and sudoku as well as reading compulsively. I think I keep Amazon going single handed.
Additionally, I read blogs on line and newspapers on line as well as doing my banking and shopping on line.
Currently reading Harry Potter, so perhaps it is my second childhood. I got quite upset on Saturday when it had not arrived, but when my sister came to collect me on Sunday there it was sitting propped against my door. It must have been there for 24 hours and I did not hear the bell. Aaargh! Torn between being desperate to finish it and trying to make it last......

I just found your blog via A Fortunate Man and am finding it delightful. I started at the oldest listings and am moving up. I can't wait to hear how you liked Harry Potter.
