Recently things have not been happy for me here. We have a residents association and there were some differences of opinion resulting in the committee resigning and a new one being elected. One couple have sold their flat and another person is selling. I am very sad as they are good friends and also the only ‘young’ friends here. This used to be a happy place but now it is a house divided. Obviously I don’t want to say any more here as I know the trouble Hospital Phoenix got into for blogging about McBitch..
We used to have a very active social committee who organised many fun evenings, such as wine and cheese, wine and fish supper, wine and bingo and other events like a Christmas lunch and a New Year party as well as, once a month, someone to talk about a subject of interest often with slides, or some local singers, Now there is no one with the heart to organise these things any more. The gardens committee, who put in so much work making the gardens look so good, and not municipal, has been disbanded. All that is left now is a coffee morning and a cup of tea while waiting for the fish van as well as scrabble and keep fit both also having a cup of tea after.
Perhaps in time things will pick up again, especially if we get some more young residents, but recently most have been quite elderly.
