Drowned Out

Went to visit the younger son and his wife recently (I am known as the dreaded mother in law, with tongue in cheek). Now that was something of an adventure. Flew to Manchester Airport and they came to pick me up then took me to their new home. Long drive through lovely scenery. Great visit and managed to catch up with daughter-in-law's family on a day out at the local children's zoo. One of her brothers is an entertainer and put on a great show for the children. Luckily the sun shone at that point.

However

Down came the rain.

It rained and it rained and it rained and it rained. Oh well you get the idea.

Still we managed out to a Japanese restaurant. My first time. Excellent food, tried all sorts of new experiences, including sake. Told that cold sake is of a better quality, This meal was to celebrate the anniversary of their handfasting - that deserves another post sometime.

Poor son had to go into hospital for a spell of dialysis overnight or so. He had a kidney transplant, so this is a bit worrying.

So, I decided that wonderful daughter-in-law should not have to drive me all the way back to Manchester Airport, and got the train. Of course the train was 45 minutes late due to flooding (fair enough), then it stopped at Manchester Piccadilly instead of going on to the Airport station, so change trains. This is not too easy with a walking stick and a suitcase, but managed. Then got to Manchester Airport and asked if there was a bus to Terminal 3 "No", a taxi "No". Oh dear, what on earth am I going to do? I booked a wheelchair for the airport but not for the station. My hero, or rather 2 heroes said we've got 3 here, we'll take you and take me they did - just as well as I would never have managed it on my own - it's MILES.

So that's that route out for the future. Train next time....
