It All Makes Work For The Working Man To Do

Well, having done the new shower, thoughts turned to "What next?" Ok, so the next project was to replace the horrible old 4 solid electric hotplate hob with a new one and I eventually decided on an induction hob (spare no expense here!). Booked that job to be done, then what did I go and do but put the pan from the breadmaker down for 15 minutes to cool slightly, on the wire cooling tray that I use for cooling the bread. What happens? 2 nasty small brown blisters. How could I forget that the wire would conduct the heat? And I did even take physics at school. Okay that was a long time ago, but any fule kno that. So I asked the kitchen company for a quote, then after I recovered from the heart attack that induced, went to make an insurance claim. The insurers, bless 'em gave the okay and the job eventually started. So they take the old worktop out and so doing break 6 tiles. What is a poor old woman to do, but burst into tears. Don't know why, but this approach never seems to help anything least of all me ;-) . Anyhoo, eventually they say that the insurers will pay up for retiling the splashback, so not only do I get a new worktop, but also new tiles and all because I was careless with the breadmaker.

My son (wonderful boy, well, not boy, he's 45) gave me the new floor tiles for the kitchen and that looks beautiful. Also for the kitchen and living room to be redecorated, so the whole place looks so much brighter. The redecoration was less traumatic than I feared as my sister packed up all my books and my son took me to stay with them for the duration then unpacked the books at the end.

Still just waiting for the retiling to be done mid August.

45? Nearly as bad as my "When I'm 64" birthday card a year early... Not till October, thanks, I'm still in my 'early 40s' ;)

love seeing your blog on my return
