A Thousand Splendid Suns

Last week I finished "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini.

It is set in war-torn Afghanistan and illustrated by the story of two women from separate backgrounds whose lives come together unexpectedly as a result of the war.

It is a beautiful story, and the best summing up I can give is that if you liked "the Kite Runner" you will love this.

I've just finished it too! I found the politics hard to follow, but a book well worth reading.

I have a copy of this book but have not got round to reading it yet - I'm looking forward to it following these recommendations.

E,

I don't know if you like movies, but if you do you will like one called "Rachida". It's about a school teacher dealing with life in terrorist-torn Algeria. Great story.
