Yesterday I got a surprise invitation to a party for friends who live in a flat here who had recently celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary. This means that they were married in the same year as Queen Elizabeth (then Princess Elizabeth, of course) was married to Prince Philip - in other words, 1947. They showed me the card they had got from the Queen. Now, I am not a monarchist, but even I, cynical old thing that I am, was rather moved and impressed.
Funnily enough there used to be a church on the site of the flats, and they were married in that church; now that is a really spooky coincidence.
We had a great time particularly as I knew everyone there (I get a bit shy in parties full of strangers).
It's also good to be able to walk home!!
I have written about being a very old blogger, and Dr Grumble pointed out that I was not the oldest on two occasions, giving me links to their sites; however A. has directed me to a site (The Ageless Project)where elderly bloggers are listed, along with their year of birth. I am humbled; not only is there a 95 year old Spanish lady whom I mentioned before, but also there are many others much older than me.
Now the couple who celebrated their diamond anniversary are by definition also rather older than me but, although they don't blog, are very much internet savvy.
