I related to my faithful reader yesterday about my sore throat etc. Don't panic - no gory details in the offing, but this morning I had to get up, shower and dress for the organic veg box man to call; this actually does make you feel a bit better (no, the shower and dress part, not the organic veg box man, though come to think about it......... )
Today I have lost my voice. Many people would send up glad cries about this.
In the veg box came potatoes, carrots, onions, a good sized cabbage, 2 leeks and 2 smallish celerys (celeries?) together with a bag of chillies. They sent a recipe for a soup using celery and leek, so I shall give it a try and let you know if it is successful. The fruit was several apples, 2 pears and an orange. Also get 6 organic free range eggs as usual.

Treatment for a lost voice:
Large quantities of preferred spirit, as strong as taste allows, eg whisky, cognac. Numbs the throat, and in sufficient quantities you stop caring anyway.

We-ell, sounds just the thing I would have recommended myself, but I am currently not enjoying anything stronger than a glass of wine.
At 09:48?? (see comment)
Advice proffered by a sage medic in such situations, which I take no credit for and merely relay to you :
1) Find a good hat.
2) Hang the hat at the end of your bed.
3) Pour yourself a decent single malt whisky.
4) Add water to taste.
5) Drink the whisky.
6) Repeat until you see 2 hats.
Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't, ho hum :-)
when I said currently, I did not mean that currently
The falls are a bit more complicated - may need to see someone tomorrow
still feeling somewhat awful
Elaine, I hope you're all right. Do take care of yourself.
