I was struggling to get up from my chair just now, when I burst out laughing.

A long time ago, when I was a Staff Nurse on an acute medicine ward, which largely took elderly patients, we would quite often get patients admitted with an informal diagnosis of "off his/her legs" which was referred to in the vernacular as "aff his/her legs"
