After much pushing, I telephoned the doctor's surgery to explain what had happened, and after a call back from the nurse practitioner, I had a doctor visit me at home. He checked my blood pressure (fine) my eyes (fine) had a look for bruises, but apart from the skull one, there is nothing yet to see.

I did tell him about getting up in the very early hours of Sunday morning, but he made no comment.
We had a bit of a chat and I admitted to reading a lot of medical blogs, and even had a blog of my own.
I was curious to find out what stage he was at, as I didn't think he was full time at the practice. Turns out he is a SpR.

So sorry to hear about the tumble and I hope you are better soon.
And . . . what's an SpR?
And what, pray, is an SpR? Stop these teases, Elaine. I'll be trying to figure this out all evening.
As far as I can make out it is a Specialist Registrar (in his case he is finished his post graduate training and hopes to get a job as a GP). I may be quite mistaken, but that's what I thought I had got out of him when I asked if they still had the VTS (Voluntary Training Scheme) for doctors intending to go into generap practice. This involved working through medicine including coronary care, surgery, obs and gynae, psychiatry and paediatrics (not necessarily in that order.
ps.
got to keep you guessing!
Oh dear, I'm really sorry to read your morning blog. I'm sorry I didn't read this till too late to contact or see you. Please get well soon. I trust you haven't broken anything. Did the doc actually do anything to help you?

Dear DMIL (Dreaded Mother In Law) please will you stop trying to kill yourself by doing things like falling out of bed?
Your beloved son would be rather upset if you were to curl up your toes (and of course I would not be upset at all lol)
Thinking of you - hope egg goes down soon..
