Remembrance Sunday

Yesterday, of course was Remembrance Sunday, and it was such a beautiful day, a long way from our mental pictures of the soldiers in their wet, muddy bunkers.

So many wars and so many dead (from all the services) since that “war to end all wars”. It seems as though politicians never learn.

“They shall not grow old as we who are left grow old”

Yesterday we had a joint service for Remembrance in the 'big' Church; we had the school brass band there (including a son) playing Highland Cathedral for some patriotic words. Good to have so many young folk for a remembrance service.
Followed by the town remembrance at the war memorial, for the 19th year in the open air (our church is on standby for the weather).
Then an afternoon communion in a sheltered housing lounge, an evening service, and the new members' class to finish the day. And me. But a good day all the same.
