Some new arrivals at this block of flats thought it would be a good idea for people to write a short tale to introduce themselves. These tales were collected in booklet form and made available to new residents as they arrived. Sadly, this has stopped happening and the person who was the leading light in their collection has left here,
However I was given a copy and, on reading it, realised that taken together, a group of them made for a very interesting and varied collection of stories of Britain during World War 2, from a different perspective to most such stories.
I was also made aware how easy it is for memories to be lost; I have forgotten much that I knew about my parents and aunts, and certainly the generation before that. A question from one of my grandsons brought this home to me and I am putting some of my memories into this blog, for them and for future generations. I am now the oldest in my family.
It is not until you read something like this booklet of Memories that you realise just how interesting they can be.
I have collected them together and shall publish them on a regular basis (probably once a week or so) for the next few weeks. I have, of course, secured the permission of each author to publish their contribution.

I couldn't agree more. It's so important to keep the accounts alive for future generations.
