Decisions, Decisions

Today I saw my GP and I have decided to voluntarily surrender my driving licence on medical grounds.

Regular readers will remeember that this is something that has been at the back of my mind for several months.

This is a very appropriate time to take this decision as my current car was due to be returned to Motability and I was due to collect a new car shortly - but had not already done so. It is now arranged that Motability will collect my car on 20 January.

TBSITW came over and emptied my car of all that should be taken away, and gained some useful things that were lying around in the boot. Unfortunately one of the things she found was a gift token for a £10 car valet. Given to me several years ago. Oh, sorry TBSITW

I am an ungrateful hussy.

Now, to top all that she has done for me she is offering to be my chauffeur for things like my physiotherapy and my hairdresser - the latter of which we shall try to synchronise.

Incidentally, she also put away all my Christmas decorations.

Now wouldn't you do the same for me if the boot was on the other foot?
No more compliments please - my halo won't fit round my big head any more!

PS I'm glad I found that auto valet voucher. I'll make good use of it once the salt is off the roads, and will get my aging car a good wash, wax & wheel scrub.

I am sorry you will lose your independence, which is important, but your wonderful family will rally around you to ensure you can get to all the places you need to {{hugs}}

Congratulations on taking such a courageous decision, and commiserations for needing to. I hope that when the time comes for me to stop driving I also do it before I regret not having done so.

A cousin of mine took a similar decision recently (after a driving scare) and is making a very good job of making the best of it. I really admire him for it - and you too!

I can see you and TBSITW enjoying those extra trips together.

I'd hate to lose my independence too but sometimes it's for the best. At least you have TBSITW there for you!

I know the feeling, Elaine. Nick 'borrows' my car Mondays to Fridays 7.30am until 6pm! Oh, and frequently all weekends!

Hey Elaine,

I totally respect you for taking the bull by the horns and making the right decision, even though it was difficult.

In the words of Albus Dumbledore, "We all must face the choice between what is right and what is easy."

You rock, Elaine.
