Our Church is moving from Version 3 to Version 4 of the Hymary now that it is available in words only form rather than the original publication of the words and music version which is so very heavy and so our minister is taking the opportunity over several Sundays to use hymns from v3 which will not appear in v4.
At the same time he tells briefly about the history of each author and of the meaning behind each hymn.
I am rather sad to be losing some old favourites like "Guide me oh thou great Jehovah" (sung today to the tune Cwm Rhondda", but no doubt there are others which are better lost. It is always hard to adjust to change, but change is essential if we are to move on and not stagnate.
It's a miserable damp day again today, but looking on the sunny side (joke) at least I don't have to water the plant pots.

Don't know where your minister got his CH4 index from, but 'Guide me O Thou great Jehovah' is still in, and still to Cwm Rhonnda. It's not even one of the hymns with the words 'modernised'. (Some of the modernisations are happier than others...)
