As my faithful reader may remember, I got a new worktop installed in my kitchen, and this was done at the same time as a brand new super duper induction hob. To celebrate this, I bought a set of pans plus one extra 20cm one.
Well, what happens but the 20 cm one (the biggest) works only on the smallest ring, and not on either of the 18 cm rings. So the nice kitchen company send out the manufacturer’s engineer to investigate the hob and he, with many scathing comments about the electrician who installed the hob, condemned it leaving me to get a new hob from the kitchen company. The new hob was installed on Tuesday of this week. The same thing happened: the hob kept “saying” there is no pan on this ring when the pan was there. Being smarter than the kitchen company and the engineer (and terribly modest too!) I worked out that the base of the 20cm pan was only 16.5cm and this was why it did not work on any ring other than the smallest.
This is a great pity as they are beautiful pans. My sister might fall heir to one of them. (Lucky girl).
Anyhoo, I ‘fessed up to the kitchen company and they said not to worry at all – an excellent response. I have also notified the manufacturers of the pans that this might pose a continuing problem with bigger induction hobs.
And now this evening I have found a leak at the back of the lavatory pan! The plumber is coming tomorrow morning.
What next?
Of course. The wall tiles in the kitchen are still to be fitted on 17 August. Do you think that can go smoothly?
