Well, today the tiler was supposed to come and retile the splashback in the kitchen. When he hadn't turned up by 10.30, I phoned the kitchen company. They came back to me with "He might be able to make it by 2pm, or else it will be next week." Perhaps they heard the steam coming out of my ears, when I indicated that I had already been put off. Anyway, he arrived at 1.45 (with his brother to help). It seemed to take them ages to get started, all sorts of talk and muttering - couldn't hear. First off they had to go and collect my tiles (very efficient) and get a new tile cutter, what can I say?
Then they started to get on with the job. At 5pm the brother left, and it was obvious to me that the tiler would not finish today, In fact by 8pm he had finished the splashback, but had not started behind the fridge and freezer.
Also, because I am having the tiles laid on top of other tiles, the spacers have to be left in for at least 3 days.
He is supposedly coming on Monday to finish the tiling, and we will then arrange a date for the grouting. Meanwhile, my kitchen is a mess and my living room is a mess with stuff decanted from the kitchen.
Aaaaaaargh!
However, I happened to hear the two brothers talking and overheard the word "bridge", so I pounced - "Do You play bridge?" Oh yes, so we had quite a chat and they questioned me to find out what level I am at. The upshot is that I am going to the bridge club on Monday. YES! YES! YES!
And so much for my previous bridge club - this is much bigger with several teams playing in competition in different leagues. I can't wait.
