Church

It is cold day today (temperature 10 degrees, but little or no wind and dry). Managed to get to Church for the first time in a while. We had the pleasure of a visiting minister, who, after appropriate readings from the Gospel according to St John, preached about Nicodemus, the intellectual Pharisee and senior member of the Sanhedrin . Initially he made his trips to hear Jesus at night, in secret, but in the end he was the person who donated much more than was necessary to anoint the body of Jesus in the tomb of Joseph of Aramathea.

He went on to talk about the difficulties Christians have today in declaring their faith, acting like good Christians and standing up for what is right, talking about peoples’ stance on the war against poverty and conversely their stance on wars being fought in various parts of the world.

Thought provoking, and a none too gentle reminder of how easy it is to go along with the majority view.
