Bridge once more, and a touch of reality

This morning The Best Sister In The World came and picked up all the stuff I had dropped under the tallboy, and changed a light bulb. Elder son and I had come across energy saving bulbs in the “golf ball” bulbs, so it will be interesting to see how long it lasts!

Two weeks ago my partner and I came first out of 5 tables at Bridge. Wow!

Last week I played with yet another partner, and we came in at 4th pair (out of five)..

This week, every thing that could go wrong did go wrong.

I revoked TWICE. This is a cardinal sin. In other words, if someone leads a suit (say a spade ( you must play a card of the same suit (unless you have none)

You lose a lot of points doing this and your partner gets exceedingly cross.

A sort of excuse is that the room was very hot – until I got a radiator switched off.

But more is that I was definitely off form, (and what's more I did it twice!)

Don’t want to give up, but will certainly have to get my act together.

never mind even omar has his days off, perhaps the "sherry" was flowing everso thick, err no you were driving.... well i'm sure there is a pefectly valid excuse.
sent card for significant person too, tried to write it but with these darn shakes i had to get beloved to do it and my signature looks like a childs, no M not as always. ah well you will no doubt trounce them all after lulling them into a false sence of security

I guess we all have an off day-it sounds like the Bridge was going very well before that. I have a flatmate who is very serious about cards in general and I must admit I am not the ideal partner/player, I seem to have a short attention span when it comes to cards! Wishing you better luck for the next game:)

Wish I knew what on earth you were talking about with the Bridge comments - errr, no I don't!!
Hey - great to see you have another new fan (ref yesterday's blog) - and one from Long Island too. Isn't the Big Apple where Daughter has just been visiting?

I love playing games but prefer to play with people who don't take things too seriously! My sister and I always have a great time with card games.

Bridge is not a matter of life or death, no not at all. It's much more serious than that ;)
