A Slide Show

Seaspray left a comment asking how the slide show went. I felt it was worthy of a post rather than a comment, so...

...it was excellent, all about a walking tour in South America, starting in Chile, then on to Patagonia, Buenos Aires, these famous falls at the junction of 3 countries (something like Iguachu, but I'm not sure). The slides were computer projected rather than old fashioned slides. The pictures were of very high quality (particularly when you take into account the degree of magnification on to the screen.)

The first slide was of a map of South America (good to have a reminder of exactly where some countries are, I can never remember, for example, where Suriname is)) The presenter returned to that map from time to time to point out (using a laser pen) just where he was talking about.

As well as beautiful photographs of the countryside (some taken of the Andes from a plane), there were the most fascinating pictures of birds, animals and butterflies.

A third category showed him and his wife at several stops, the first being at a Chile wine house with the grapes growing outside, then on to the cellars and a tasting. Several others showed different hotels, again with the fascination of different styles of architecture. Some of them also showed him and his wife sitting at the hotel enjoying more of the wine (my sort of people, really)

The commentary was fascinating and the speaker spoke clearly so that I had no difficulty hearing. Bonus points there!

We finished off with tea and a cupcake and a collection was taken for a local children's hospice, an almost record sum being raised which is an indicator of how good the talk was.

Elaine it sounds like a wonderful evening was had by all. The pictures sound spectacular and so great that the hospice collection was so successful. :)
