Today we celebrated 75 years of the Company of the Boys' Brigade attached to our Church. It was a splendid, uplifting service at which the colours were presented and the collection went to the Boys' Brigade band. The anthem was Handel's Zadoc the Priest (you know, the one that is always played at coronations), the collection was for the BB band and afterwards there was a march past.
Coincidentally, one grandson is in the BB (but not, of course, here) and was recently at BB band camp - and seemingly had a grand time. He plays, amongst other instruments, the guitar. I have been somewhat subversive, as grandmothers are allowed to be, and have encouraged him into a love of Pink Floyd. As you can imagine, "We don't need no educashun..." from 'The Wall' went down a treat.
Today, I put on summer clothes, and of course, put a jinx on the weather. What was worse was that I forgot how cold the Church gets! The weather is still reasonably mild, but there is no sun, so now I have changed back into a jumper and think it will be hot soup for lunch (when I had planned on having it chilled.

We had a lovely call from Guitar playing nephew (grandson to you) yesterday - he had lots of questions for Douglas, then demanded we put our phone on loud speaker, as he did with his, and played us "yankee doodle dandee" on his guitar! It was a little hesitant, and a few rather strange notes in places, but still recognisable.
The bad bit was your beloved youngest son singing the song at the top of his voice down the phone afterwards!!! (Id rather hear a cat sing lol )
Love the idea of teaching him pink floyd.. :-) sometimes the youngsters forget we too were young once..
Pink Floyd eh? What a cool Grandmother he has!
hmm, saw what dreaded wife put!!! ok iwas the only one in the school told to sing more softly in lessons lol and thrown out of the church choir cause i couldn't sing.
