Cheeses and more..

The cheeses that I bought on Friday were Isle of Mull Cheddar, Criffel, Ainster, Guboon (from Ireland and not sure of spelling), also an Italian cheese rather like Parmesan (and, no, NOT Gran Pudano, but I can't remember the name). It is rather a pity they were not labelled, and there may also be another one that I have forgotten. I also bought some quince jelly to go with them, and some lovely oatcakes to serve them on..

This should have friends and family rushing round like bees to a honeypot.

On Saturday I drove grandson across town to meet up with some BB folk who were off for a 24 hour walk and overnight camp. He arrived home today just in time to say good bye properly.

Later on Saturday son and I drove granddaughter to Glenshee for a week's Scripture Union adventure holiday. It was good to be invited in for a cup off tea as it meant that we did not just drop her off and run! She is a slimy slug.... Again proper good byes were said.

On the way there we stopped at the roadside for some locally grown strawberries and we couldn't resist the bargain of 3 punnets for £6. How come I have come home with 2 punnets!

I am now safe home and unpacked.

It has been a great pleasure to catch up with them all, and I miss them already.

Maybe next time daughter-in-law will be there!

I am going to miss them all.

OK, I'll bite.

What's a punnet?

I know I could look it up on Google, but this is infinitely more fun.

A punnet used to be a small basket traditionally used to hold soft fruit. Nowadays they are made of plastic.

My favourite - cheese... I gave cheese up for lent one year and couldn't believe the number of foodstuffs that have cheese or cheese products in.. longest 6 weeks I can remember. Those sound nice, I can remember the cheddar from Orkney, but haven't heard of any of yours except for the Mull one; sounds nice though as do the strawberries, which taste so beautiful at this time of year so sweet and juicy.

Hey what do you mean by calling our one and only Scottish Neice a slimy slug ? :-)

So glad you had a good time.. just wait till Douglas reads about your cheese - he will be on his way up to yours faster than you can say "mine" lol

Not long now before we see the other lot!

Slimy slug was, of course, the team name on her name badge - the other two were midges and ants, although I can't remember the adjectives.
