This morning I got up, showered and switched on the bridge of candles in my bedroom window then went through to switch on my Christmas tree.
Nothing
So I went on and switched on by basket of lights.
Then my chiropodist came, so that feels better.
Then my two lovely cleaning ladies came and L. handed me a "wee minding". I was somewhat overwhelmed as she does so much for me.
Anyway she had a go at the lights seeing as I had a spare set. Changing the fuse bulb didn't help, so she checked the plug fuse then tried some of the lights with no success.
I used to have a bulb testing thing, but could not find it anywhere. The first place I looked was the odds and ends Christmas box - no.
Then I went on to the tool box, the battery box and the bulb box with no success.
The only good thing is that these boxes are now tidy and I found some stuff that needed throwing out, so that went in the bin.
I had bought the tree from Dobbies and of course did not have the receipt but at least had the original box with the Dobbies label and the price on.
So off I went to Dobbies and they were smashing - new tree, no questions asked.
Of course I went on to have a scone and a lemon refresher.
Came back via the pharmacist shop to hand in some unused pills as my prescription changed and I no longer needed them.
The weather is dire, heavy rain and quite a wind. The temperature is just above freezing and what was hitting the windscreen looked rather like sleet.
So, home again and now my tree is up and lit and this time I have hung on it a lovely set of little wooden ornaments.

Love the sound of the wooden ornaments... somehow it seems to hark back to christmases of old and when ornaments were made not brought... I have a hankering for those days again
Oh yes, a Christmas tree is essential, isn't it? Glad you had no fuss from the store when you returned the dodgy one.
Elaine - enjoy your tree! Sending best holiday wishes your way.
