All that high finance stuff......

I have just received a letter from the NHS Business Services Authority.

There may be a problem with my pension.

I have a NHS pension and the state Old Age Pension and they are now saying that I may have been overpaid.

wtf? (=what on earth?)

After my pulse rate settled a little, I read on to discover that, if I have been overpaid, I will not be required to repay any overpaid amount, but it will be corrected from April 2009 at the same time as I receive any pension increase for 2009.

Aye, right.

What pension increase would that be?

The only good thing is that I do not receive a large pension, not by any manner of means, and so the excess overpaid should not be too much, except that I have been retired for 12 years now.....

These grand financial affairs hit the little man too.

I have read the 2 page letter twice and don't understand how or why this has happened. At least I shall not have to repay any overpayment. You would think that the overpayment was my fault when they make this gracious statement.

Was hearing about this on the newes, apparently is asystem error in the calculations stretching back to the 70's!! fortunatly they are not asking for anyone to repay but will deduct the "excess" next year.Another fine example of beaurocracy in action. Hope this does not hit you hard.

Hope you don't have too much of a problem Elaine, you would think that the Government (s both current and past) could manage one simple job of paying a pension to a pensioner.. but it seems beyond them. They should just start again without talk of repayment or stopping your increase...

speechless for you
