I came back from bridge to a very welcome cup of tea.
I found this afternoon quite difficult; my partner is very easily upset, and, although she started off fine, she soon became obviously upset. I joked away and said to
S that she obviously had her scatter gun as she was hitting everyone.
As my partner becomes upset I try to keep her going and to lighten her mood. The result is that I find I am not playing as well as I should. The real crunch comes when she complains about my bidding or play. I might have managed better if I were not supporting her.
Aaaargh!

Oh dear .... sounds frustrating!!
It's hard to know how to respond when someone doesn't cope emotionally. I think you've been taking a fantastic attitude into the games; a shame some others don't learn from it...

Sounds as though your partner is finding it very difficult and in not coping is hitting out at others. Hope you can resolve it soon as it makes for a more pleasant game where you will enjoy it.
Thank you all for your supportive comments. If I were not able to play with her I would once more be without a partner and miss out on the great Tuesday evening bridge which is so relaxed and friendly apart from my partner being so uptight. It is such a shame for her as he should really be getting more enjoyment. She seems to feel that S. is picking on her (she isn't, she picks on everyone!)
