.... Christmas. I know it is far too soon but I try to spread the cost and so, having dealt with birthdays, yesterday I moved on to Christmas. Not quite as bad as it seems as I was trying to look out cards and money for all those lovely people who come around near Christmas and to whom I make a small monetary gift. I have yesterday sorted out my lovely cleaners, but need more change of large notes to find for the paper boy and the milkman. I bet I have forgotten someone..... *
I have also stearted reading Heartland by Stuart Legg; I think I am gong to find it particularly interesting after reading the first two of a trilogy by Conn Igguldson of Genghis Kahn as it covers much the same geographical area.
* oops, so far, the Postman

I just had a phone conversation with my mother, who lives down south (where all the gas stations are currently closed down due to lack of gas) and apparently my entire extended family has decided to forego presents this year. Everyone is hurting for cash, so we are going to exchange "Merry Christmases" and good wishes this year.
I'm afraid my postman and garbageman are out of luck!
My postman is an arse, anyway - we've taken to using a box at the UPS store instead of our own mailbox because he is such a pill.

Our milkman is excellent - you fairly notice the difference when he is on holiday. The postman is always cheery. I confess I rarely see the paper boys as they deliver long before I have hauled myself from my cosy bed.
The Residents Association gives a communal gift to the bin men as we have very large bins notnormal household bins and also to the House Manager (though they shouldn't both be mentioned in the same breath.
I always remember the window cleaner because it's a job I'd hate to have to do especially in the winter ! I'm not too keen on cleaning the inside either but think it would be a bit decadent to ask him to do those as well !
Ah, the window cleaner is sanother one who is paid out of the common fund.
What a good idea. Our budget is so tight now. I should start buying a little something every pay day.
Our youngest son will be 20 Sunday and so after that I will start. :)
O love the holidays. :)
You are sweet to think of them. Not everyone does. :)
Ah yes, I work to a strict budget now over Christmas costs and try to spread them over some time. Sometimes I just happen on something which has someone's name figuratively on it and buy it even if it is very early on the year.
Keep a few coppers for the carol singers,if you please!
Dickiebo, if you are one of the carol singers, certainly, especially if B. comes too.
Actually, because I live in a block of flats with a secure entry system, they don't tend to call, which is a pity.
