TBSITW left a comment on my last post and I felt the reply just about warranted a further post.
Yes, I did get back to sleep again, but it was still rather a short night.
I think part of the problem is that my last (and excellent, radio-controlled) alarm clock showed the 24 hour clock. Trouble is, I reached the stage where I couldn't hear the alarm and had to give it away.
This one is VERY, VERY loud (great), but I still sometimes don't realise whether it is morning or evening when I wake up, especially if I wake up suddenly. This is not helped by the fact that my bedroom window overlooks the (private) car park and this is lit at night, so that the light coming through the curtains is much the same in daylight or not.

Have you thought about getting one of those clocks which have a light which gradually comes on - I think it is called a sunrise clock... meant to be for SAD people (Seasonal affective not depressed).. might be a visual clue..
I did smile at your story.. happens to us all especially under pressure.

I did wonder about having two clocks in the bedroom, one for the time and one for he alarm.
(and no this is not a silly idea!)
Try a grandfather, Elaine. You may get to like each other!! lol.
To TBSITW; I'm only joking!!
Are you certain your clock doesn't have an option for 24 hour time display? If not, I think your idea of having two is great. Would you like the one back that you used to have (currently in "your" bedroom here)? If not, you can get clocks now that project the time onto the ceiling -another idea.
To dickiebo -
I like the joke - I'd be delighted for elaine to have a grandfather (clock or otherwise) or even a toy boy. :-))
I've always liked the idea of a projection clock that shows 24hour time on the ceiling. Maybe if you wish hard enough one will arrive in the post...
