Independence Day

The Fourth of July!

Happy Independence Day to all my American readers.

This day is in commemoration of the day we Brits got rid of our American colonialists.

(Oops, sorry, they got rid of us.)

I would love to hear any tales of extra special celebrations. Is this a turkey day?

Anyway, have a lovely day. Isn't it good when it falls on a Friday, so you have the whole weekend to recover from any excesses.

Tried to leave this message after your bombe surprise recipe but was unable! -
Pomegranate seeds eh? Interesting. Could have sworn I suggested Passion Fruit! Reckon both would work very well anyway :-)

It's an age thing, I think.

No, today isn't a turkey day (that would be Thanksgiving in November when it is possible to use your oven all day to cook a 20 pound bird and not die of heat). Today is hotdogs and hamburgers and grilling outside and then fireworks tonight. It is also a big day for sales: car sales, furniture sales, clothing sales....Americans love to celebrate by trying to get everyone to buy things that they don't need.

I remember being in Carmel CA, half a life-time ago, on Independence Day and am reminded buy your faithful Arizona reader of the fireworks and barbecues on the beach. A wonderful night with people I have not seen again. I have a vague memory that the fireworks were not actually allowed, but.....

Had dinner last night with some friends we hadn't seen in a long time, and tonight we're walking the 20 feet across the parking area to our tenants' apartment, where we will share a nosh and bevvies.

Sort of a low-key weekend in all, but very relaxing. I made a batch of homemade salsa to have with tortilla chips - yummmmm!!!!
