Friends and Bridge

Yesterday afternoion I got a telephone call from the Bridge Club Secretary, asking if I wanted to play tomorrow (Tuesday) evening; of course I was delighted, particularly when I found out it was someone I knew and liked. It is being held in a Community Hall as the Bridge Club building is closed this week.

Today I went to visit a friend of long standing, CW; we met when I went to work as a "temp" - this was after I "retired" - in the company where she was working. We have kept in touch ever since. Today she fed me the most enormous 3 course lunch and I am "stappit fu". On the way home I went to find the Community Hall and was also reassured to find plenty of car parking just next door.

Home now and sorted out the organic veg - potatoes, carrots, onions, a whole celery, broad beans, 2 courgettes (which have obviously benefitted from last week's rain), curly kale, broad beans.

No cooking this evening as I could not face another mouthful!

"Stappit fu' " to your long distance friends, means "stuffed full (of food)"! A wee Scottisicsm.
I made blackcurrant jam yesterday from own fruit - its first year and only 1/2 a pound (1/4 kilo). I thought it would be difficult to get the jam to set, but no! I now have blackcurrant toffee!!

Came back from an excellent evening of bridge, tired, wide awake (yes, the two do go together) and STILL not hungry.

Oh dear tbsitw I remember doing that with bramble... resembled and tasted like toffee. I ended up throwing mine away but can you fix it?

Hello Sage
The jam tastes ok, so I just need to chisel it out of the jar!

Hey tbsitw, perhaps it is time to start your own blog as you keep hijacking mine! ;-)
