Went to the final physiotherapy class today, and was also a bit tired from keeping the exercises going each day.
However the great news is that someone else is going to conduct the same class once a week which is brilliant.
Unfortunately the new class is going to be on a Tuesday, which was usually my best free day for hair and dental appointments.
So I phoned the hairdresser to make a new appointment and told him why – the response was a change to the day following.
And then he told me that there would be a 20% surcharge for changing my appointment.
Felt really like throwing a strop and finding another hairdresser.
Faces and noses and cutting of one from the other came to mind, so I didn’t – at least not this time.
Wakened during the night to a rather sore throat. Usual treatment of paracetamol and plenty of fluids instigated.
As soon as I got home I took a bag of washing down to the washing machine, and it is now washed, dried and put away. This was well worth doing as it was my bedding plus underwear.

My garage doesn't make a surcharge for CHANGING my appointment! I would question the legality of this - it is unreasonable charges. The banks are being hammered on this, and they have had a contract to fall back on. Bet the hairdresser never issued you with terms and conditions!
As the appointment is being changed due to a medical appointment I think this would come under a reasonable excuse, anyway. There is no way I would let your hairdresser off - threaten a letter to the papers.
What a way for the hairdresser to treat a long-standing loyal customer. I am shocked. Well done thought for keeping the heid -we both know how hard it would be to get someone else who'd do as good a job. His business possibly feeling the pinch due to recent changes nearby? TBSITW
Thank you both.
I am still very cross, but I didn't want to say something in the heat of the moment that I might later regret. I was so flabergasted as it was so unexpected.
I hope he was just posturing (I did sleep through a previous apppointment when I was very ill).
Definitely if he does impose that ridiculous charge, I walk.
I have to agree with mikeg. No way you should be charged. You even gave plenty of notice!! I know he does your hair really well, but I am very concerned that he is taking advantage of you. I would suggest that you only have enough money to pay for your hair cut when you go - he can't force you to pay this ridiculous charge. I don't care if he's feeling the pinch - aren't we all?!!
Many thanks to all. I am hoping this was just a (somewhat warped) sense of humour. If he does make an extra charge, I walk.
The last time I went somewhere else was another time when I found it difficult to get to the salon from where I then lived. At that time, I could dnot find someone to give me a good cut, but think I really missed the saln products.
In high dudgeon I looked on line and instead of ordering anything as I was going to do with my next appointment have ordered what I need on line. So that's a cut off his profit permanently lost!
