Today I was sitting at my jigsaw and looking out into the small patch of land that I call a "garden" . Huh, it's not even big enough to call a "patio".
However, many of last year's pots were looking rather sad, with dead old growth not cut back.
And it was such a lovely day........
So, even although I can't really manage to do this, I found a pair of secateurs, a rubbish bag and my stick and ventured forth.
I should also have done a bit of weeding round the pot plants (moss and the usual suspects),but I really don't manage bending down very well, so I left that for another day.
Now all my pots have the dead stalks removed and the bay (which is really thriving) is trimmed back.
The whole place looks so much better, and as far as I can see I have suffered only a couple of scratches.
A great feeling of satisfaction.

Have you seen those gardening seats on wheels, or at least a stool you can fold up.. that way you can sit without having to bend and get you closer to the plants.
I spend a lot of my weekend on my knees but I know they eventually will forgive me sometime in the near future.. but easier to get to the weeds.
Have beans to plant this evening, and letters to write.
Good thought - but I have a great deal of difficulty in getting up from a seat without assistance, in fact Occupational Therapy provided a cushion to raise me up on my seat in the living room...
Enjoy bean planting - and letter writing.
It is good to see that somebody keeps up the art of letter writing instead of just emails.
So that job is off my do list now. Well done, you. (Sorry I stole your stool/seat recently).
Lovely to hear you have done some gardening even though you really shouldnt :-)
Douglas and I did some over the weekend, and I cut round the edge of the lawn yesterday... hard on hands and back, but worth it!
This evening I will cut the lawn itself.
to tbsitw - don't worry, it would not have helped..
Elaine, sorry to hear that it wouldn't have helped to use a stool.. it sounds like gardening has been a pleasure and to watch it without being able to be hands on must be torture.
You go, Elaine! It's worth every scratch and bug bite, I know!
