My Family.....

.....(but no other animals this time.)

First of all daughter rang me to ask if I could go over today, but sadly I couldn't because I had ordered a supermarket delivery. I had thought that she was working a full day today, but turns out I had misconstrued something she had written, and she was working only a half day. I was rather keen to arrange a visit before next Wednesday as she has a birthday then. We finally arranged for me to go over there for 9.30 am on Saturday. So, I shall have to set the alarm.....

Then supermarket delivery arrived and I got everything unpacked and put away.

Then I spotted a text message from The Best Sister In The World asking if she could call in on her way home from the hairdresser. So I managed that date, and we had a good chat over tea and biccies. A bottle of Noilly Prat from the only supermarket that seems to stock it was very much appreciated.

It is another beautiful, sunny day.

I glad to see you out and aobut! Cleaning out those pots must fave felt good, I know I like it when I clean out mine and they are ready for something new.

A nice bunch of fresh organic veggies, tea with TBSITW, bridge, and a visit with your daughter to lookforward to, that sounds pretty busy. I wish we could get something like that around here, but my husband wouldn't eat the veggies. :(

Thanks for your kind comments about my new great-nephew. Yes, seeing a new baby makes a lot of us feel all broody. He sure is a sweet little one.

Curious, what is Noilly Prat(sp?) and how do you drink it...

Is it the modern version of sherry, and/or G&T's..

Love the tales of the bridge club, wish I still played it but lack of time, opportunity and motives mean I don't any more and I miss the fun of working out what to bid on a hand.

Noilly Prat is a dry French vermouth, as opposed to the dry Italian vermouth - Martini Extra Dry.

The French vermouth has more botanicals than the Italian one (and is also of a slightly higher alcoholic content) To my mind (and palate) it is vastly superior to the Italian vermouth - never mind the supermarket own brand versions which are unspeakable.

You can drink it on its own with ice (as I do) or you can add tonic or even - horrors - lemonade.

You can also use it with gin to make a gin and French.
