..... It was good to have so many complimentary remarks about my hair when I went for tea.
After that I returned to my flat to unpack my shopping and discovered that the House manager had left a parcel on my bed for me. It was some Noilly Prat as I had discovered that it was cheaper from Waitrose than anywhere else (and no postage). As I was rearranging things, including putting some bottles of wine into the kitchen cupboard, I realised that the wine rack was too close to the wall leaving the bottles in an unsteady position.
So, I attempted to straighten it, away from the wall.
Oh, yes, you are ahead of me again...
In front of the rack was a bottle of Harveys Bristol Cream (which I don't like, but I had bought for a neighbour - though when she called, she decided she would rather have a Noilly Prat!!!!!)
In the process of straightening the wine rack, one bottle knocked the Bristol Cream onto the floor, where it smashed.
So, I started the process of clearing up the mess, and after some time on my knees, realised that I wasn't going to be able to finish the job.
Fortunately I caught the House Manager before she left for home and she came and finished the job (which in fact was the bulk of the job).
Okay, so it is all now cleared up again and I sat down and had my meal.
I meant to mention that, when I was in M&S, as usual they had flowers at the checkout to tempt one (as bad as sweeties at the checkout to tempt the children!)
So I bought a bunch of Sweet William. They took me back to a holiday that tbsitw and I spent in Cornwall prior to the handfasting of younger son and tddil. There we found bunches of Sweet William at the end of a track, with an honesty box. It is so nice to have that memory again.

Sacrilege Elaine! Harvey's Bristol Cream? Mondieu! How can I live without it? I know what tbsitw stands for. Well, tbditw is Harveys.
What a shame. If I had only known, I would have invited you here to lick it up.
Mind you, you would have had to be careful of the broken glass.
Of course a hardened drinker would have no concerns about a little thing like broken glass
Confession time... when I make a sherry trifle I like to use bristol cream as I like the flavour but not in a drink.. does that make me a heretic?
Glad the weather is blooming up there Elaine... time to enjoy some warmth and sunshine...
Umm, sage - the jury's still out on that one ;-)
I had completely forgotten about the sweet william in Cornwall. My main memory of that plant is in our parents' back garden at CB where they were planted in the early days ther down one side of a path.
PS
I agree with Sage about the Bristol Cream for trifle, but otherwise I'm with you - give me a good cold Tio Pepe any day.
